Our CliftonStrengths-Based Approach

Written By: Jasmine Martirossian

At Mercury, we are a Gallup CliftonStrengths-Based organization. We even include this in our job postings. We are proud of it. In fact, it distinguishes us as a progressively forward-thinking organization.

But what does this mean in practical terms? It means that we focus on understanding the strengths of each individual at Mercury. When people know their strengths as determined by the Gallup CliftonStrengths assessment, it empowers them to thrive by leveraging their unique talents. Working from a position of strength makes individuals significantly more accomplished, productive, fulfilled, and happy.

The Power of CliftonStrengths in Our Culture

Gallup CliftonStrengths has become a foundational language for Mercury. It is has become an integral part of our culture, enabling us to connect with our colleagues and build more effective relationships. It helps us gain deeper insights into our colleagues' perspectives.

Leveraging Strengths for Success

For example, if a colleague with Input in their Top 5 cliftonstrengths asks for additional data, understanding their strength reveals that they need more data before making decisions, rather than implying distrust in your work. Similarly, when a colleague with Input offers additional tools and solutions, it's driven by their innate desire to be relentlessly helpful.

If you collaborate with a colleague whose top strength is Context, providing the "Why" and background information becomes essential for gaining their collaboration and buy-in.

Knowing someone is an Activator tells you they are eager to start and move quickly on a project.

And if someone possesses the Arranger strength, anticipate them to explore various options and variations until they find the perfect solution.

We could go through all 34 cliftonstrengths, and each would provide a valuable clue to understanding how each person perceives and processes the world. Deep insight into individual strengths enables people to flourish.

Being a Gallup CliftonStrengths-based organization empowers us with a unique internal language that's an integral part of our culture. This doesn't happen automatically; we actively cultivate it.
