This year, Mercury proudly celebrates 40 years of excellence in time-sensitive and temperature-controlled shipping.

Peter SalisburyWe begin with a special acknowledgment to our founder, Peter Salisbury, for laying the foundation of this incredible journey. Peter Salisbury established Mercury on January 2, 1984. His journey began in the mailroom of a prominent Boston law firm. Recognizing an opportunity, he envisioned creating a business that would cater specifically to the shipping needs of law firms. 

During that time, law firms faced two significant challenges: the need for proactive tracking to ensure timely document delivery for meetings, and the requirement for detailed subtotals on invoices by client-matter number for easier client billing. Mercury initially operated as a small-scale venture, with Peter and his wife personally handling customer relations, package pickups, label creation, carrier coordination, package tracking, and client invoicing. However, as the advent of email reduced the necessity for physical document mailing, Mercury adapted its focus, shifting towards serving the healthcare and life science industries, which remains our specialization today.

In 2020, Josh Medow acquired Mercury. He has been instrumental in elevating our company to new heights. Under his guidance, Mercury has successfully streamlined life sciences logistics.
