Josh Medow, Chief Executive Officer

Key Responsibilities, Mission, Goals

I am responsible for building a team with the right culture to achieve our company mission of simplifying healthcare and life science shipping, allowing companies to avoid stress and save time. We excel at time- and temperature-sensitive shipping. This specialized shipping requires particular attention to detail and agility. Quite literally, lives are affected by those shipping outcomes, so our mission is to excel for every shipment.

Background and Previous Roles

I grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and went to West Point becoming an infantry officer in the US Army. Served over 5 years in the Army, including a deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan as an infantry platoon leader. After leaving the military, I went to Harvard Business School and decided I wanted to buy and lead one business for my career. Having spent over 19 months systematically searching for a unique business with an owner looking to retire, I came across Mercury after speaking with hundreds of business owners.

Education

  • MBA, Harvard Business School, 2018
  • BS, International Relations and Arabic, West Point, 2011

Fun Facts, Interests, Hobbies

My wife, Gina, and our daughter, Sabine live in East Boston with our dog Tycho. Since Tycho is a Siberian Husky, he likes to run, dig in water bowls, and shred toys. Yelling at me is his favorite pastime.

Josh was recently featured in an interview with Medical Alley (source: medicalalley.org), where he explores his leadership journey at Mercury.
